Kasey Freckleton

Perched on a ridge above the Nepean River, Yellow Rock offers big skies, long views and plenty of creative headspace. This small, elevated community attracts MTNS MADE members looking for space, solitude and inspiration from the natural world.

Here you'll find musicians, writers, painters, photographers, and makers who live and work in close connection with the bush. Some are full-time creatives; others maintain practices alongside careers in education, ecology or health — adding real-world depth to their creative output.

Yellow Rock may be quiet, but the work coming out of this community is thoughtful and far-reaching. Projects often reflect the landscape — with themes of resilience, place and renewal echoing through text, image and sound.

If you’re looking for collaborators who bring a grounded, independent spirit to their practice, Yellow Rock offers a strong sense of clarity and commitment.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
