Join us on Saturday, 28th September, for the inaugural Blue Mountains Sustainability Festival, a day packed with fun, learning, and eco-friendly activities in the heart of Katoomba and Leura. Whether you’re passionate about sustainable living or just curious, this festival has something for everyone.

Forum of Workshops and Speakers
Dive into our Forum of Workshops and Speakers, featuring expert guest speakers who will discuss various aspects of how to live more sustainably. Learn from those who have developed sustainable businesses, discover how to reduce your energy costs at home, explore permaculture, and see how electric cars, bikes, and machines can enhance your sustainable lifestyle. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable insights and accessible, practical advice on living sustainably within your community.

Sustainable Fashion Show
Our Sustainable Fashion Show, themed 'Elements,' is the highlight of the festival, where pre-loved and sustainability meets style in the most captivating way. The show is inspired by a different element:

  • Earth: Embrace organic textures and earthy hues with sustainable materials, creating a grounded, environmentally conscious aesthetic.
  • Fire: Set the runway ablaze with vibrant colours, bold patterns, and intense energy, symbolising passion and vigour.
  • Air: Enjoy ethereal fabrics, flowing silhouettes, and lightweight designs that evoke a sense of freedom and grace.
  • Water: Delight in fluid designs, iridescent materials, and cascading motifs that capture the graceful and serene nature of water.

Fast fashion prioritises rapid production and low costs over quality and sustainability, resulting in massive waste, significant carbon footprints, water pollution, and exploitation of labour in poor working conditions. It’s never been more important to discover how sustainable fashion can be stylish and accessible for everyone. Learn how to wear, style, and have fun with eco-friendly and second-hand pieces. Circular fashion is crucial for our planet, so look and feel great while supporting a future that cares for our environment.

Shopping Trail and Community Stalls
Explore the Blue Mountains' growing pre-loved and sustainability economy through our Shopping Trail through Katoomba and Leura, officially launching on the day of the festival. Discover businesses providing repurposed, second-hand, antique,or vintage merchandise, supporting First Nations makers, sourcing locally made and/or sustainable products or practices. Enjoy a unique and value-packed shopping experience that promotes sustainable living.

Meet passionate community groups, businesses and individuals at our Community Stalls Shop, swap and connect with like-minded individuals and be inspired by the innovative sustainability stories shared by local businesses and groups.

Don't miss out on this exciting event! Mark your calendar for 28th September and be part of the Blue Mountains Sustainability Festival 2024. Together, we can make a difference and create a sustainable future. See you there!
