The Rhythm 'n' Time workshops

project description

In this three hour workshop you’ll discover something about your own unique rhythm, be that slow, fast, frenetic, chaotic, smooth, easy or hard. Everyone has a rhythm and a rhythm to their lives. It could also be thought of as your pace, the way you move through your day or night. We’ll play with that rhythm and become more in tune with the natural patterns that take place in our bodies over each 24-hour cycle. We’ll also have some fun learning new skills and playing rhythmical patterns together as we become more in tune with one another and our percussion ensemble. Limited places available to 6 people per workshop session. For part of the session we’ll from 3 groups of 2 within our 3 hours together. The workshop is designed for people who aren’t necessarily musicians or performers of any kind, but can be.

Flexible cost: Employed $120, unemployed $60, non income earner, negotiable. Bring your own percussion instrument or drum or one will be provided for you. Most Workshops will be scheduled on weekend days in a community hall or project space in the upper Blue Mountains of NSW. They are expected to commence in early to mid March 2025.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF NGURRA

The City of the Blue Mountains is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. MTNS MADE recognises that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Owners have a continuous and deep connection to their Country and that this is of great cultural significance to Aboriginal people, both locally and in the region. For Dharug and Gundungurra People, Ngurra takes in everything within the physical, cultural and spiritual landscape – landforms, waters, air, trees, rocks, plants, animals, foods, medicines, minerals, stories and special places. It includes cultural practice, kinship, knowledge, songs, stories and art, as well as spiritual beings, and people: past, present and future. Blue Mountains City Council pays respect to Elders past and present while recognising the strength, capacity and resilience of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Blue Mountains region.
