I’m a multi-instrumental musician with experience as a composer, songwriter, sound engineer, performer and music educator at Abbey Street Music. I have a long-held passion for soundscape and music composition, which resulted in the audiovisual event States of Suspension at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in 2018. More recently I have composed works for short films and promotional videos, including the music for the latest MTNS MADE promotional video.
As a performer I play in music outfits ranging from guitar-based pop and rock (The Winstons) to psychedelia (Paper Sun), electronica (Ashram Poets) and men’s choir (Spooky Men’s Chorale). In conjunction with Steve Waters, I also run music events as P.S. Productions, including the successful Life On Mars David Bowie tribute and the annual Beatlefest at the Family Hotel.
In 2014 I completed a first class honours degree in a Bachelor of Music at the University of Western Sydney and am currently undertaking PhD research into the aesthetic phenomena of suspension in popular music and imagery. For more information, visit my website at peterlong.com.au
